1. What will we need to provide you with?

There are a number of areas where we’ll need access to in order to get started. The following is a list of the areas where we’ll need a username and password depending on the level of work we do and the scope of each project.

  1. FTP information (username, password and server)
  2. Shared access to an online email account (preferably a Google account)
  3. Control Panel (cPanel) access
  4. Access to your registrar (in certain circumstances)

2. Why do you need access to an online email account?

As a part of our process we register your business with multiple sites for various reasons including creating social media accounts, for validating web services, and when promoting your business through niche directories. Having access to a shared email address saves us time from having to request that you forward us any pertinent email correspondence. It is preferable that you use a Google account (Gmail) but you can also setup a domain email address for us like firstplanet@yourdomain.ca.

3. What will you do first?

After we have our first conversation and discussion of what you’re looking for, we’ll do a preliminary investigation into your website’s rankings, it’s design, and we’ll put together a proposal for you which will lay out our plans and objectives.

If we’re developing a new website for you we’ll discuss your requirements, wants and needs, explore examples of what type of interface you’re looking for and determine website which features you’ll need. If necessary we’ll take care of your content needs or accept content from you.

These are just general starting points, and all depend on the nature and scope of the project.

4. Do you do SEO and Web Design at the same time?

Since a very large part of SEO is directly related to the user’s ability to smoothly interact with your site, we ensure our work will positively affects your online success even if we’re not providing any long term SEO services to you. If you’ve opted in for only web design work without SEO, your site will still be coded according to SEO best practices and web design standards.

5. How long does it take to start seeing changes in my traffic and rankings?

Each project is different and website optimization must be approached on a site by site basis. Typically we see traffic and ranking changes within anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. There are many factors related to why search engines rank certain websites higher than others, and many factors that go into becoming a business that’s popular and competitive online.

We can say that typically we’ve seen changes in traffic in rankings anywhere from a few weeks to a few months down the road.

6. Do you create and manage social media accounts like Facebook Pages?

Yes. We create and optimize social media pages, and also manage posting your content, and authoring it for you too. We don’t take full control of your social media sites but assign ourselves as team members which gives you the control to post content on your own accord.

7. Do you do the copywriting for various projects?

That depends. During the keyword research and discovery phase we learn a lot about your business, and we learn more as time passes too. This knowledge helps us better craft posts, page titles and meta descriptions, parts of videos, ad copy and so forth from an SEO and marketing perspective and in line with your business goals.

Some companies prefer to write and publish their own content and in these cases we would review your content for opportunities and then send back to your business for final approval. Regardless of where the content is sourced, it should go through an SEO analysis to ensure quality control, that is contains basic SEO requirements, and that opportunities are not overlooked.

8. Is there anything you cannot or don’t do?

There’s almost nothing that we cannot do for you but there are times when certain things need to be done by people who specialize in the service. We have some of the best industry contacts who can take care of work like custom application programming, custom design templates, logo development, app. development and we source and vet expert writers for clients who don’t want to write they’re own content, or the nature of the content is too complex for our writers, i.e. health industry, legal industry.
